About
Adventist Community Services (ACS) is the humanitarian arm of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America. The department's mission is to "train, equip and deploy leaders and members of the local church for service to all people, especially people in need." Churches throughout the Conference demonstrate strong commitment to this mission by serving both congregational members and surrounding communities.
Approximately 45% of Florida Conference churches maintain regular food assistance initiatives — distributing hot meals weekly or monthly to families, and operating food distribution centers that provide groceries to community members. Many congregations combine material aid with spiritual education opportunities.
A growing number of congregations have established volunteer maintenance crews that identify and address serious home repair and landscaping needs for individuals lacking the resources or ability to pay for such services.
Hurricane Preparedness
The ACS department operates with particular intensity during hurricane season (June 1 – November 30). Leadership actively engages local churches — especially those running community outreach programs — to ensure readiness before, during, and after storms. The department has sponsored annual training events for local directors and volunteers across Northwest Dade, Central Florida, and Northern regions.
